David Butterworth

David was awarded a scholarship in 1967 to study at the Royal Manchester College of Music. Upon successful completion of the course (ARMCM Performer-Piano), and a teacher training course, took up employment as a music teacher at the Hulme Grammar School for Girls, Oldham. Later he worked as tutor of piano, A-level music, and as accompanist to the Oldham Girls' Choirs the venues included the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, London.

He has performed widely in the North of England as accompanist for soloists at local music club events. These, for example have been at Lytham St. Anne's, Blackpool, Prestwich, Nantwich, Manchester, Bury and Bolton; and Rochdale at the Music at Lunchtime recitals.

David's upcoming recitals include the following:

  • A concert with former BBC philharmonic violinist John Resek at Bury Parish Church at lunchtime on Friday July 12th 2013.
  • A lunchtime recital with clarinetist Rachael Gibbon at St Mary's Church, Rochdale on September 19th 2013.
