Kim-Marie Woodhouse

Kim-Marie Woodhouse, mezzo-soprano, was born in Leicestershire. she studied singing and performance at the Welsh College of Music and Drama with Maureen Guy and Antony Saunders where she graduated with distinction.

Her operatic roles have included the title role in Carmen, Auntie in Peter Grimes and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. She was a member of the Wexford Festival Opera chorus for three years and in 1966 performed the role of Hosta in their acclaimed production of Sarka (Fibich). Most recently, Kim-Marie has been working with Opera North singing chorus in their new production of Tannhauser.

Her oratorio and concert repertoire includes: Bach B minor Mass, many of the oratorios of Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert Masses, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius and Sea Pictures, Berlioz' Les Nuits D'ete and Verdi's Requiem.

Kim-Marie was the winner of the Mary Garden International Competition in 1993 and came second in the National Mozart in 1994. She has also been a recipient of a Sir Geraint Evans scholarship and Ryan Davies award.

Concert engagements have taken Kim-Marie from the Music Hall in Aberdeen, to Peterborough Cathedral, and the 1996/97 season includes appearances at Eton College, Ellesmere Port, Grimsby and Cheltenham Town Halls.
