A graduate pf the RNCM, Clive has won many prizes, including the Barbirolli cello and Harriet Cohen Memorial. He studied with Donald McCall and in Cologne with the celebrated Russian cellist Boris Pergamenschikow. In 1992 Clive was invited to give a televised master class, and he is in much demand as a teacher and held a prestigious post at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Clive is the cellist of the Tokyo String Quartet. It is regarded as one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world. The former Principal Cellist of London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Clive joined the quartet in 1999.

Clive played the Dvorak (1993) and Elgar (1990) Cello Concertos with Oldham Symphony Orchestra.
