Laurence Perkins

Laurence Perkins studied bassoon at the Royal Northern College of Music with Charles Cracknell.

He is principal bassoonist with the Manchester Camerata and plays free-lance with many orchestras including the Halle, BBCNSO and City of Birmingham SO. With his accompanist Michael Hancock, with whom he has worked for the last ten years, he has given many Radio 3 recitals. In 1979 he appeared at the Wigmore Hall, and in April 1983 is scheduled to give a Purcell Room recital. In 1979 a record entitled Bassoon Serenade appeared and they have just recorded a collection of French and English bassoon music for Hyperion Records, which will be issued this summer, entitlet L'Apres midi d'une dinosaur.
