OSO Conductor: Marco Bellasi
Prize-winning conductor Marco Bellasi recently served as Junior Fellow conductor at the RNCM. In addition, he has worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, the Hallé Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Ensemble 10/10, the official chamber orchestra of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. His final concert with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra was met with critical success. Marco graduated in conducting at Milan Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in 2007 and holds a Masters in conducting from the RNCM. His repertoire includes symphonic, opera and contemporary music. Marco was an active participant in the 2013 Orkney conducting course organized within the St Magnus Festival with Martyn Brabbins, where he conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with many amateur orchestras in the north west of England ; Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra, Stockport Symphony Orchestra, Gorton Philharmonic, Amaretti Chamber Orchestra and Chester Philharmonic. He is Musical Director of the Opera Viva amateur opera company in Liverpool. Marco has a degree in violin from the Conservatorio of Milan and has also studied composition in the Conservatorio G. Verdi. He has worked as a freelance lyrical singer and has sung numerous times as a soloist. He has sung the role of Don Basilio in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia in the Teatro Piccolo of Brescia.
